Tolfenamic acid (N-(2-methyl-3-chlorophenyl) anthranilic acid) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the fenamate group. Tolfenamic acid exerts anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities. The anti-inflammatory activity of tolfenamic acid is mainly due to an inhibition of cyclo-oxygenase and thus to a reduction of the synthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxanes, which are important inflammatory mediators.
Directions for use
4mg/kg, bodyweight (1mL/10kg) to be given once daily by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection for a maximum of 5 days.

Restraints
NOT TO BE USED in food producing species of animals.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in animals receiving corticosteroids or other NSAIDs. Contraindicated in animals suffering from cardiac, hepatic or renal disease. Contraindicated in animals showing signs of gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding and where there is evidence of blood dyscrasia.
Precautions
Use in animals under 6 weeks of age or aged animals is not recommended.
