Ilium Oxytet-200 L.A.
For use in cattle, pigs and sheep. OXYTET-200 L.A. has activity against a large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria via its ability to interfere with protein synthesis. It is rapidly absorbed following injection, and therapeutic blood and tissue concentrations are maintained for 3 - 5 days.
OXYTET-200 L.A. diffuses readily into most body tissues, reaching high concentrations in liver, bile, urine, bone and lungs.
OXYTET-200 L.A. also diffuses through the placenta into the
foetal circulation. The liver concentrates and metabolises OXYTET-200 L.A. with excretion
being via the bile/faeces and in the urine where it remains in its biologically active form.
OXYTET-200 L.A. is indicated for the treatment and control of conditions caused by or associated with organisms susceptible to its actions.
A large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma spp., Chlamydia and Rickettsiae are sensitive to OXYTET-200 L.A. Clinical conditions that may be treated with OXYTET-200 L.A. include gastrointestinal tract infections, respiratory infections, urogenital infections, septicaemia and infected wounds.
Specific conditions may include:
Cattle: Anaplasmosis, blackleg, diphtheria, actinobacillosis, pneumonia, footrot, systemic mastitis, joint-ill, navel-ill, leptospirosis.
Pigs: Systemic mastitis, erysipelas, joint-ill, navel-ill, pneumonia, leptospirosis. An aid in the control of MMA (Metritis-Mastitis-Agalactia) syndrome in sows.
Sheep: Footrot, systemic mastitis, metritis, blackleg, joint-ill, navel-ill, pneumonia.
Directions for use
The standard dose for cattle, pigs and sheep is 1mL per 10kg bodyweight by deep intramuscular injection into the neck. No more than 10mL should be injected into any one site in cattle and no more than 5mL into any one site in pigs and sheep. Standard aseptic precautions should be taken prior to injection. Treated animals should be clearly identified in such a way that they will maintain their identity during the withholding period.
Injection 100mL, 250mL glass, 100mL PET.
Oxytetracycline (as the base) 200mg/mL
Do not use in horses, dogs and cats.
Product may cause anaphylaxis in cattle (adrenaline may be a suitable antidote). This preparation may darken during use but potency will remain unaffected. Some tissue reaction and discomfort may occur at the injection site.
Meat – Do not use less than 42 days before slaughter for human consumption.
Milk – Milk collected from cows or ewes within 7 days following treatment must not be used for human consumption or processing. This milk should not be fed to bobby calves.
Any variation on the approved dose, frequency, duration, route, disease or target species may result in a need to extend the withholding period.
Store below 30ºC (room temperature). Protect from light.
